    Garlic-Herb Parmesan Star Bread

    Ingredients

    Dough

      • 360 (3 cups) Bread flour
      • 180 (¾ cup) Whole milk warm
      • 50 (4 tbsp) Unsalted butter softened
      • 25 (2 tbsp) Granulated sugar
      • 1 (1 large) Egg
      • 5 (1½ tsp) Instant yeast
      • 6 (1 tsp) Salt

      Savory Filling

        • 70 (¾ cup) Finely grated parmesan lightly packed
        • 40 (3 tbsp) Unsalted butter melted
        • 2 (2-3 cloves) Garlic minced or grated
        • 2 (2 tsp) Dried Italian herb blend
        • 0.25 (¼ tsp) Black pepper
        • a small pinch Salt

        Finish

          • 30 (2 tbsp) Milk or olive oil
          • Optional extra parmesan for sprinkling

          Make dough: Knead all dough ingredients 8 minutes until smooth. Rise 60-75 minutes.

          Mix filling: Stir melted butter, garlic, herbs, parmesan, pepper, and salt until combined.

          Shape: Divide dough into 4 pieces. Roll each into a 10-11 inch circle. Spread filling between the first three layers.

          Cut & twist: Mark center with a cup. Cut 16 rays. Twist pairs twice and pinch ends.

          Proof: 20-30 minutes until puffy.

          Bake: 180°C (350°F) for 20-24 minutes.

          Finish: Brush warm bread with a little olive oil. Sprinkle parmesan.
