This traditional braided Jewish bread is enriched with eggs and honey, resulting in a tender, slightly sweet loaf perfect for Shabbat or any special occasion.

Enriched Bread
Ingredients
- 500g (4 cups) Bread flour
- 4 large (4) Eggs plus 1 for wash
- 80g (¼ cup) Honey
- 120ml (½ cup) Warm water
- 80ml (⅓ cup) Vegetable oil
- 7g (2¼ tsp) Instant yeast
- 10g (1½ tsp) Salt
- 2 tbsp (2 tbsp) Sesame or poppy seeds optional
Instructions

Combine warm water, honey, and yeast. Let stand 5 minutes.

Add eggs and oil to yeast mixture.

Add flour and salt, knead 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Cover and let rise 1½-2 hours until doubled.

Divide into 3 or 6 strands, braid, place on parchment-lined sheet.

Cover and let rise 45 minutes until puffy.

Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with seeds if using.

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes until deep golden.

Tips
- •Room temperature eggs incorporate better
- •Don't over-proof or braid will lose definition
